St. Olaf College Registrar’s Office records

US-MnNS-0066

This collection contains records and materials from the St. Olaf College Registrar’s office from 1875-2004 that pertain to the students, staff, faculty, and academic courses at St. Olaf College.

The St. Olaf College Registrar’s office ensures that all students are appropriately enrolled in their courses, maintains accurate and up-to-date records of all students, assists students with their graduation, and makes sure that students and alumni have access to transcript services and verifications. The Registrar’s office also supports St. Olaf College faculty in their roles as academic advisors.

Those who have held the office of Registrar in the past include John Bly, a 1912 St. Olaf College graduate. He was the Assistant Registrar at St. Olaf College from 1927 to 1935. From 1935 to 1947 he was the Registrar of St. Olaf College. Inez Frayseth was a 1935 St. Olaf College graduate. She became the Assistant Registrar at St. Olaf College from 1944 to 1945 and became the Registrar from 1951 to 1973. She is the longest serving Registrar at St. Olaf College.

John Lygre started as Registrar of St. Olaf College in 1972 and held multiple positions at St. Olaf College for the next 32 years. In 1984 John Treon was hired as the Registrar of St. Olaf College and held that position until 1997 when he became the director of academic events and alumni abroad programs.

The St. Olaf College Registrar's office records includes academic records, account books, budget reports, correspondence, course schedules, directories, lab schedules, meeting minutes, memos, microfilm reels, reports, statistics, and record volumes from the St. Olaf College Registrar’s office.  A portion of the collection focuses on materials and records from four past Registrars of St. Olaf College: John Bly, Inez Frayseth, John Lygre, and John Treon.
