An oval bentwood box with a spring catch lid rosemaling decoration. The year "1825" is painted on the lid with other writing. The box has a small metal handle at the top of the lid.

"Oval bentwood box with spring catch lid ("Tine"). Decorated with some painting that may be the Os style of rosemaling done in Hordaland. The region of origin is probably Hordaland province in West Norway. Date of origin: approximately 1870. Donor: John Anderson Publishing Company, Chicago". - Description from 2006 appraisal by Mary Jo Thorsheim.

The box also contained two metal pieces, separate from the artifact.
