A metal lyre or sheet music holder consisting of a lyre-shaped clip connected to an extending metal arm. The metal exhibits oxidation and appears to have originally been painted black, which has mostly worn off.

This lyre was owned by Joseph O. Thorsheim, a 1930 alum of Saint Olaf College. His son, a graduate and faculty member of the College, Howard Thorsheim, donated it.

Lyres or sheet music holders are attached to instruments in marching bands to allow the player to read sheet music while performing.
