A violin and violin case. The violin body is made of a darker wood with black wood for the fingerboard. It has four pegs for tuning and a curved "scroll". There are minor scratches and scuffs throughout the body of the instrument. The fingerboard has three red strips of tape across it. The bow is a red-ish wood, and there are no strings attached. The black violin case has a green fabric interior. The container has slots for the violin, bow, and a compartment for accessories.

A receipt from H.P. Blakkestad's store at 710 Marquette Avenue in Minneapolis indicates the violin purchase for $77.20 around 1855.
