This bust was donated by David E. Johnson, a 1938 graduate and former employee of Saint Olaf College.
Gjermund Hoyme was the first president of the United Norwegian Lutheran Church, which named Saint Olaf College its college in 1899. Hoyme was also the namesake of Saint Olaf College's Hoyme Chapel (1906-1923) and Hoyme Memorial Hall (1961).
