This box and wooden carving were found after the Flaten Hall date stone was removed and donated in 2007. Arnold Flaten possibly made the carving.
Flaten Hall, named after Arnold Flaten, was built in 1955 as East Hall and dedicated in 1956. It received the name Flaten Hall in 1964 when it was changed from a residence hall to a building for the Art Department. The building was torn down in 2006 and replaced with the Regents Hall of Natural and Mathematical Sciences.
